Who we are & scope

TeacherFrame ("we") processes personal information to provide the Service to adults — parents, guardians, tutors and educators. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written for a United States audience and reflects the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA); we apply the same protections to all users.

Information we collect

• Account data — your name and email address.
• Child context you choose to enter — a child's first name or nickname, age range, interests and optional learning notes. You decide what to enter; we recommend the minimum.
• Content you create — materials you generate and save to your library.
• Billing data — handled by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card number.
• Work a child hands in — if you use the homework feature, the answers and notes the child writes. The child is never asked for their name; see "Children's privacy" below.
• Technical data — browser type, and your IP address for security and rate limiting. IP addresses used for rate limiting are stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form.

We do not collect government IDs, precise geolocation, or sensitive personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

The Service is directed to adults, not to children. Only adults can hold an account; a child can never create one.

Where a child does use a page we serve. An adult can share two kinds of link with a child: a practice quiz and a homework assignment. We are deliberate about what those pages collect:

• Practice quizzes — we record only anonymous aggregate counts (how many times the quiz was opened and completed, the percentage scores, and which questions were missed most often). These are not linked to any child and cannot identify anyone.
• Homework assignments — we do not ask a child for their name or any other identifying detail, and there is no field in which to enter one. If the adult used a personal link, the work is labelled from the child's first name already stored in the adult's own account; otherwise the submission is stored as anonymous. What is saved is the child's answers and any notes they chose to write.
• These pages carry no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 beyond what is described above. If a child nevertheless enters personal information in a free-text answer, or if you believe we hold a child's personal information you did not intend us to have, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Parents and guardians can at any time review what is stored about their child, correct it, delete it, and refuse any further collection — from the account, or by emailing us. Deleting the account deletes the child profiles and every submission linked to them.

If you are a tutor, pod or microschool (Educator plan): you are not the child's parent, so you are responsible for obtaining the parent's or guardian's permission before entering a child's details or sending them a practice or homework link. We ask you to confirm this when you create a child profile.

How we use your information

We use your information solely to: provide and personalize the Service, generate the materials you request, communicate with you about your account, and process billing. We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it for anyone else's advertising.

AI processing & who we share with

To generate materials, the text you submit (including any child context) is sent to our AI provider — by default Anthropic (Claude), or another provider you select in Settings — which processes it to return your result. Under their API terms these providers act as our processors and do not use your prompts to train their models. We also rely on a small number of service providers acting on our behalf: Stripe (payments), our hosting provider, and our email provider. We share only what each needs to perform its function, and never for their own marketing.

We do not sell or "share" your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the past 12 months.

Data retention

We do not keep children's data indefinitely. Homework submissions are deleted automatically once they reach the retention period set by the operator (365 days by default); this runs nightly and needs no action from you. Submissions belonging to a deleted assignment are removed with it.

Your own account data is kept for the life of the account. Deleting your account permanently deletes your materials, child profiles, uploads, quizzes and every homework submission linked to them. On request we delete your data within 30 days. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis.

Security

Access to your data is restricted, data files are protected from public access, and payment details never touch our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Your privacy rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data

California residents (CCPA/CPRA) additionally have the right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, to delete and correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do neither), and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To exercise any right, email us; we verify your request through your account email and respond within the timeframes required by law. You may use an authorized agent.

Cookies

We use a necessary session cookie for sign-in, and — only if you tick "Stay signed in" — a persistent sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in on that device until you sign out or change your password. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) load only with your explicit consent, and you can decline them. Pages we serve to children carry no analytics and no tracking cookies at all.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
